A person who laced candy with sleeping medication and distributed them to youngsters at a youth camp in Leicestershire has pleaded guilty to sexual crimes against two boys both nine and 10.
Jon Ruben was taken into custody after eight minors and an older person experienced illness at the location in mid-summer.
The elderly man, from the Nottinghamshire area, admitted guilt to a multiple criminal counts when he appeared at the courthouse on Friday.
Nevertheless, he denied a single sexual charge he was charged with, which was concerning a nine-year-old boy.
The defendant was kept in jail before a subsequent court date on late November.
'Sweet game'
The prosecutor, prosecuting, outlined the defendant's actions to the judicial body.
She explained his those affected were under-privileged children who were participating in a summer camp which he managed.
The defendant conducted a "treat game" with the children, the legal counsel explained, in which he would access the sleeping quarters when they were preparing to sleep and tell them to consume candy "as quickly as they can".
She informed the proceedings the man had played this game with the young males "repeatedly", and children had previously fallen ill the following morning.
She stated the defendant had been able to explain this for many years as the minors being "overstimulated by activities", until his stepson had concerns in recently.
The legal representative stated further: "Recently" his stepson had suspicions about the activities, justifiably.
"They chose" to have a look in the individual's items."
The legal counsel said materials including infant oil, Vaseline and syringes were located, and his stepson notified the authorities about his suspicions.
She said the defendant continued to engage in the "sweet game" with six boys that evening - July 26th - and they were all ill the following morning.
"Authorities" had not arrived by that stage," she stated further.
The oversight body, the investigative body, earlier informed that it was investigating the police response of the situation.
The legal representative stated the children were having difficulty walking due to their sickness, so the family member notified the authorities again.
She stated Ruben then played the "candy game" in a area of five minors.
